Although it is difficult to tell someone how to be a professional, Julie Trimarco provides advice on what not to do.

 ·        Arrive late. Julie Trimarco notes that if you desire to carry yourself in a professional manner, you should never arrive late to an appointment. It is absolutely crucial that you show the other party that you respect their time, but if you arrive late it shows extreme disrespect.
·         Don’t listen. Julie Trimarco states that not listening and avoiding eye contact are extremely unprofessional behaviors. Julie Trimarco notes that if you are engaged in conversation with another party it is important to show them that you respect their input and opinion. If you fail to listen, the other party will not respect you or your time.
·         Be dishonest. Julie Trimarco states that individuals who lie are generally not respected or taken seriously. If you desire to carry yourself in a professional manner it is important that those around you believe you are a trustworthy and honorable person.
Be unfair. Julie Trimarco notes that most professionals will conduct business without bias; however, if you start to conduct business with favoritism—people will not trust you.
